: Indian women laborers carry rocks while working on a road widening project March 27, 2008 in Chuzom, Bhutan. Tens of thousands of migrant workers, mostly Indians do the hard manual labor jobs that Bhutanese shun such as building roads and construction. Bhutan is the smallest country in the region, with 600,000 citizens and lacks the manpower for the blue collar jobs. The small mountain nation situated in the Himalayas between China and India, is in the midst of a political transition to becoming the world's newest democracy ending more than 100 years of royal rule.
