Louise Bailey looks at a sample of biodiesel made from recycled cooking oil using a Fuel Pod 2 on June 18 2008 in Stroud, England. Massive price hikes in the cost of fuel has led to a surge in demand for products such as Green Fuel's Fuel Pod 2, which retails for 2500GBP and allows domestic drivers to make their own biodiesel, which can be used in their cars without modification. Currently the UK government permits drivers to make 2500 litres without paying duty, which can mean the biodiesel can cost as little as 15p a litre to make compared with the average mineral diesel pump price of 132p a litre.
